Simslice Archived (Older) News... Here is a listing of our older News & Site Updates that you first saw on our Homepage. It was later moved here to make room on the homepage for new news items and updates. Older news will be regularly archived here as time permits -- all news will remain on the homepage and old news will be removed from there only when it gets archived here. News data from 2002 - 2004 was put in this text format to reduce storage space and page- loading time for all viewers. If you have any questions, please contact us via our Contacts page link on the Simslice homepage: http://www.simslice.com ************************************************************************************* ************************************************************************************* OLDER SIMSLICE UPDATES & NEWS (in chronological order) ************************************************************************************* ************************************************************************************* May 6, 2002: Hello, Homeslice here -- welcome to Simslice! -- my new (and first) website! People kept asking me to get my own site, and since I'm always up for a new challenge, I thought what the hell. I hope you all enjoy everything here. We can handle submissions, requests, unique hacked objects, skins, houses (and we're working on other stuff too). I plan to update often and post a new (free) object EACH WEEK, so check the Previews page to see what's coming down the pike. We provide full support for all our creations, so use the Contacts page if you need Ron, Cindy or I. Feel free to sign my Guestbook and lemme know what you think. Our FAQ Page will also tell you a lot about the items and services available on this site. And just so you know, this is A FREE SITE and we want to keep it that way (but donations are ok:)). My goal is to make this a positive place people can visit, have fun with, and feel at home in, so drop us a line anytime. Party Treats! Ok enough jabber, now on to business.... My newest object will (I hope) knock your socks off! I'm so proud of it! (not that I'm biased or anything ;)) Check out the new Party Treats! in the Objects section (under Miscellaneous). The Drew Carey generator has been massively improved, in fact it's pretty funny! It's in the Decorative section. Also, Mr. Potato Head just had a big birthday! Celebrate it with him, he can be downloaded from the Miscellaneous section too. I hope you enjoy it here and I hope you come back again. I'll post again real soon. Thanks for dropping by! :) ************************* May 9, 2002: Added some new stuff to the Skins section, but just silly stuff mostly. I hope to have some really good ones soon from an acid-wash collection I'm working on. I really like the way they're turning out, but they won't be ready for a while. I made the font here a bit bigger because some browsers were having difficulties with it. If it's too much, let me know. Well that's all for now. I can't thank everyone enough for all the awesome feedback we've gotten! It has really meant a lot!! :) Thanks again! ************************ May 13, 2002: Monday again, and it's NEW OBJECT day! The Mega Slot is ready for download in the Electronics section. Also I increased the font size on the rest of the pages, so let me know if it's too much. Check out the Previews section for a glimpse of next Monday's object, which I'm still trying to finish up. It's The Idiot Box, a very "realistic" TV :) I updated the Party Treats - some people told me the guests weren't displaying the full range of social interactions that the object was meant to show. So I updated it so that ALL Sims, not just the guests, can use them. I think you'll like this one A LOT better! Later.... *********************** May 15, 2002: Added another wonderful house today by George Jones (cobblerjon) as well as a couple of my own. Also added a new Incentive Pack #3 which includes the new & final Ultimate Rejuvenation Chamber and other goodies. They're found on our Support page. I will be having a quickie Contest tomorrow with a prize, so if you're interested in playing, you can find out how on our brand new Contests page, by clicking here. Later :) ************************ May 16, 2002: Let the games begin! Click here to start or if you have no idea what I'm talking about, read below. [link to Contests page removed] ************************ May 17, 2002: The contest is over, thanks to those that played. The links have been removed, but click here for results. The winner is InnerEvil316! Your skins are on their way now, hope you all had fun. Do you want me to do more stuff like this? Hit the Contacts link and let me know. :) *********************** May 20, 2002: It's Monday again, and of course that means a brand new free object is posted.... The Idiot Box: A fun and relaxing TV as always. But just like in real life, watch out for the effects of atrophy and long- term exposure if you stay on the couch for too long. It could reduce your skills points and slowly turn you into a couch-potato. This TV can be found in the Objects page under Electronics. ***************************** May 24, 2002: Grow Your Own Food! Never buy an expensive kitchen appliance or wash a dirty plate again. Corn stalks, tomato plants, apple trees and wild berries are available for immediate consumption. Also the Ultimate Cloning Mirror -- make an exact copy of your Sim as many times as you want. And of course I had to put lots of fun hidden surprises in each of these five new objects… ;) Enjoy all five in Incentive Pack #4 which are available via our Support page. ****************************** May 27, 2002: "New download Monday" has arrived again. Today it's Zencat the Omnipotent! Details and object download are found in the Objects section under Decorative. I also updated the Star Trek skins -- the color wasn't set to 256, so if you had troubles with their appearance in your game, please redownload them from the Skins section, they look fine now. New houses will be posted later this week as well. Happy Memorial Day!! ******************************** May 30, 2002: Have 2 new houses posted today: another from George Jones and one from Edge. If your email address begins with "wendy", "benjenbaughman" or "tonysgirl2002", and you are awaiting our reply, please contact us again, thank you. ******************************************************** November 11, 2002: Happy Veteran's Day! Check out our Tragic clown alarm on our Electronics page and the Canning Station for visitors by Sir_Laphelot on our Kitchen page. Pics are below. Also, Maxis has released the official Unleashed Patch. We provided the link on our Programs & Patches page where you can read about and download it from the official site right now. There is also a link directly to the Patch topic in our Forums where you can read what other people have had to say about this Patch, or comment about it yourself. ******************************************************** November 14, 2002: Sims Online website has a Quick Tour video you can watch or download. The link can be found in our Sims Online Page. ******************************************************** November 18, 2002: Five new objects! 3 New Donation Items: Nuclear Power Plant: Never sleep again! Everyone's Energy levels slowly increase to maximum and stay maxed out for as long as the Power Plant is running on the lot. Sims can increase Mechanical Skills by working on it. Fun points can be increased (and hygene decreased) with the "play" and "kick" options. But careful now... careless behavior might cause some unwanted side-effects, which can include: Radioactive Waste Spill Radiation Leak Radioactive Cloud Minor Meltdown Major Meltdown! (all non-lethal... but not too pleasant for your Sims ;) ) NPC Friendship Bear : Ever wanted to have a beer with the Fire Fighter? Play pool with the Thief? Date the Maid? All the original Sims NPCs can be summoned... and socialized with. This stuffed Teddy Bear is different than all other NPC Generators, in that the NPC you choose becomes as interactive as any visitor in your house. No expansions required, but if you do have the right ones, you can take any NPC with you Downtown, on Vacation or to Old Town... who knows what the limits are...... It's also perfect for those who live alone, and need to keep their Social levels up. Lastly, there is a serial killer NPC included if you want it. Pet NPC Beacon: Twenty (20) different breeds of pet NPCs can be generated instantly... not the in-game ones or strays, but completely new NPCs! Cats include: Siamese, Calico, Tabby, Persian, Silver, Black Calico, Red Calico, Tortoise, Bombay and an Albino. Dogs include: Beagle, Dalmation, Poodle, Aussie, Rottweiler, Bulldog, Scottie, Austrailian Shepherd, Chihuahua and Labrador Retriever. They are all very friendly. The Nuclear Reactor, Friendship Bear and Beacon can be obtained via our Support Page 2 New Downloadable Items: New version of the DS9 Food Replicator free for our Forum members. Intermagus recolored the original object to give it a stainless steel-look. Matches many in-game kitchen appliances. Forum members can get that now on our Replicator's page (same page as before... and it's added in the same DS9 zip file to keep it all together). The Money Flusher - a fun and pointless way to get rid of that hard earned (or cheated) cash real quickly.... oh, the political jokes I could make... the Money Flusher raises fun points while emptying your wallet. Also works like a regular toilet. Go to the bathroom to download it. Our Forum underwent quite a facelift recently -- better organized with a few more rooms added, including an Object Designer/Hacker forum, a Skinning forum, a Sims Online forum and even a FAQ resource room where useful game tips will be stored forever in an easily retrievable manner. We are pleased to see our forums grow to nearly 2,000 members, and have over 4,000 visits daily (members & guests). Registration is free, quick and easy but you don't have to register to read the forums, only to post. So we hope you'll take a moment to check out the new changes we've made, and maybe chat us up a bit if you want. :) ******************************************************** November 25, 2002: Upgrades to Ice Cream Cart, Cheap Eats Counter, Shrimp Cart and Hot Dog Stand: Ice Cream, Pizza, Burgers, Shrimp and anywhere you can get a Hot Dog will now give you an appropriate increase in Hunger and slight increase in Comfort thanks to Sir_Laphelot. You can download these now from our Programs & Patches page. Three new Houses made by Guabaman and Lesi are on our Houses page. Themes are: Downtown cemetary, Luxuary Cruise ship and a Simslice hangout. ******************************************************** November 30, 2002: HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATTZ! We updated the site early this week so we could introduce our new tribute object, dedicated to Whisperz a.k.a Kattz, one of our beloved Simslice Forum members who hasn't been well lately. Last week, a group of us Forum members and friends of Kattz got together and brainstormed about what we could do for her birthday as a surprise, and we came up with this special object -- Kattz The Tooth Fairy NPC can now visit your good little Sim children: put your tooth in the toothbox and later on while the child sleeps, the Tooth Fairy will take your tooth and leave a little present for your child. Download it now from our Miscellaneous Objects section. Kattz, an e-card has been sent to you as well. We hope you, and everyone else, enjoy "Kattz" in their game. :) We also have three new and creative houses by Lesi in our Houses section, page 1: Crop Circles, Church and Pine Hills. Our FAQ page was also updated some. C-ya! :) ******************************************************** December 9, 2002: The Downtown Dining Podium... now for use at home, or anywhere else. Made by Guabaman58, now posted on our Beta Test Page (along with additional details). Lots of fixes and upgrades, courtesy of the talented Daveh (as known in the TSR Forums). New downloads include: two "huggable" trees, a fix to the Vacation Lodge Diningtable, and (for Unleashed users) the ability to access the Buy/Build Mode while playing Downtown, on Vacation Island or in Old Town. All these downloads along with additional information is now on our Programs & Patches Page. Next week: New Christmas Downloads... details are on our Previews Page. ******************************************************** December 15, 2002: New Christmas Downloads! It's a bit early, but we wanted you to enjoy them before you ran out of town somewhere to dunk your head in bowl of egg nog for a couple of weeks (... not that we do that sort of thing...*burp*... ). Anyway, see below for our three new downloads this week. Kids can sit on Santa's lap and request toys. Are you on Santa's "naughty list" this year? Use the Christmas Bookcase to read Humanitarian books that increase your "Nice" personality points. Nicer children get better presents from Santa, just like in real life. :) Other fun surprises included too. Also posted are the HP Santa skins, made playable by Doodlebug. These three items can be downloaded now from our Miscellaneous Objects section and Skins section respectively. We updated the Programs & Patches page per the release of the Maxis Official Sims Deluxe Patch. We also added links to all other official patches on The Sims official webpage. ******************************************************** December 23, 2002: Updated our Sims Online Page with info about us in TSO. All six pet skins are downloadable from our Pets Skins section by clicking here (or just click on the "Skins" link above and to the left). The "Visitor Skills/Gorilla Walk Fix" has been updated. Please note the special requirements for this one. Steeple Chaser House by WrWilliams is in our Houses section now. ******************************************************** February 2, 2003: Simslice was down for a day and a half for maintanence while I was out of town, sorry for any inconvenience. The site is now fully back up and running. Our Free Bonus Pack offer for donors has now expired. If you have any questions about that, please contact us. ******************************************************** February 3, 2003: New "Live Teddy Bear" Pet Skin on our Pet Skins Page. Updated our Links Page and will have even more Links added there next week. The Mask Game 1 & 2 objects by Guabaman on our Miscellaneous Objects page has been updated - the GUIDs (Object IDs) have been updated with a proper "magic cookie" number. Both versions of his games work fine of course, but if you already have either of them, we recommend replacing with these. ******************************************************** February 10, 2003: Revolutionary New Object, requires no expansions to use: A Motion Picture TV for The Sims! Finally, your Sims can watch this animated cartoon on a motion picture flat screen television that mounts on the wall. This object was a joint venture between Sir_Laphelot and I, one that we are quite proud of. Other credit goes to Another #%*& Sims site and Candlelight Sims, see webpage for details. You can download this motion picture TV now from our Electronics objects section by clicking here. Also new this week: More Tree upgrades by Sir_Laphelot. Place your in-game trees anywhere: inside, outside, through a wall, on the water, in the pool, on a floor tile, on a slope, inside an object or another tree - even in the air! Some require expansions, some don't. Visit our Programs & Patches page for details and downloads. ******************************************************** February 17, 2003: (three big updates this week...) Live Zencat NPC! We will be giving out our first Live Zencat Non-Player Character free to everyone who shows up at the party. Be the first to get the brand new Zencat when it's completed. Visit our Sims Online page for more details.... Captain Hero's Phone Booth: Finally a phone booth for your Sims to secretly change from their mild-mannered "by day" identities into their dynamic Captain Hero alter-egos! You can download this now from our Electronics page. Phone booth graphics done by DH Sims, a site with many quality items and well worth a looksee. Simslice has a Chat Room now! In our Forums at the top of the page is a "join live chat" link. Click on it to chat away at will with Homeslice or other visitors to this site. You must be a registered member of our forums to participate in Chat. Registration is still free, and you still get the three free electronic Food Replicators for joining. Click here for details. ******************************************************** February 24, 2003: New Download: Vegetable Cart Upgrade by Sir_Laphelot "Buy ten" or "buy twenty" of your favorite vegetables, in addition to the original "buy one" or "buy five" options. Get this in Programs & Patches. ******************************************************** March 3 , 2003: Downtown Buyable Flippy the Clown skins (Formal, PJ, Swim and Winter outfits) made/recolored and submitted by Defiant76. The older original Zencat Idol in our Decorative Objects page has also been updated recently (see March 3rd update below). If you have not heard from us, you will today, please be patient. All contact pages on this site are back up now as well, including our Requests section. Just getting settled back in now, but in the next day or two, we will post several new objects, and hopefully have more details about our Contest #5, which will likely start next Monday. :) ******************************************************** March 20, 2003: The Weather Machine! Based on requests from some of you who tried our Original NPC Friendship Bear, we agreed to make these colorful Bears for all expansions, and we put them all in one convenient Pack. Summon and socialize with up to eighty (80) non-player characters (NPCs) from the game: play pinball with the Camp Fire Ghost, hang in the hot tub with the Maid, take the DJ on a date downtown, etc. etc. -- interact with them as you could with any visitor to your home. This was an enormous amount of work to complete. Details and NPC List are via our Support Page under the "NPC Friend Pack". Snore-free Bed! No more loud obnoxious snoring by those apnea-afflicted Sims. Comfort, Energy and Room values also increased. Downloadable now from our Seating section. Coming soon: SimsCity! Play a game within a game... or just raise crops of people for money! Make a little Simcity in your yard, complete with mini-buildings, people, parks, roads, natural disasters, and much more. The better your sim maintains it, the more money can be made off the little working stiffs. No SimCity objects are involved, just clones from The Sims (...with a little Slice-spice added...) These will be freely downloadable here in a few weeks. Details will be updated on our Previews page as the arise. ******************************************************** April 14 , 2003: Our Contest ends Monday April 14th tonight -- visit the Contests Page now if you have an entry you want to submit to us before time runs out. Lots of new Walls and Floors added, some relating to Zencat, Flippy the clown, and other things. Download them now from our Walls section on page 2 and Floors section on page 2. Because there will be no update on Monday the 21st, instead we will have to do it early! Come back here on Wednesday the 16th for a special new early-bird download! Some details are mentioned on our Previews page now, but purposely little because it's a surprise... ;) ******************************************************** April 16, 2003: HAPPY EASTER FROM SIMSLICE! For those that celebrate Easter this weekend, you can also enjoy an Easter Egg Hunt in your game, courtesy of Homeslice's Easter Bunny. Visit our Pets Objects section now for details and download. Hope you enjoy, and again Happy Easter! As stated before, this is an early surprise update in place of next Monday's update, so as such there will be no need for an update on Monday the 21st. Enjoy! :) We also have a new Japanese Paradise house made by Megafighter and downloadable from our Houses section now. Contest #5 has of course ended, and results will be reviewed and announced hopefully soon. Check back for more details at some point next week. ******************************************************** April 28, 2003: Star Trek Klingon Heads: Download them from our Skins Section on Page 4 now. Klingon heads available for males & females ( adults and yes even children), dark skin tone only. Our Contest #5 participants will be getting an email this week. Many thanks to all who entered, and who patiently waited for us. Winners are just about selected by our judges, as are quite a few Honorable Mentions. Great work, we were so thrilled at the quality of the entries! Visit our Contests page for more on this, and when those downloads will be ready here... The new Slice City is almost done (name suggested by forum member and Floor contributor KingSpore and other members, thanks). Updated details on our Previews Page now. The screenshot is huge, so it will take time to load on most dialup systems. ******************************************************** April 28, 2003: Star Trek Klingon Heads: Download them from our Skins Section on Page 4 now. Klingon heads available for males & females ( adults and yes even children), dark skin tone only. ******************************************************** May 5, 2003: Contest #5 results are in, along with 13 new downloads! Visit our Contests Page for the scoop on that. New Downtown Boat by Edge is on our Houses Page - very nice work! A week of beta testing for Slice City 1.0 went better than expected, and many contructive comments were received. Thanks to all who participated and gave feedback. We're going to polish up a few things with it, add a few new things as well, and have the 1.1 version ready next Monday. As such, the beta page for it may go up an down a bit this week, so if you haven't tried it out yet, please wait until next Monday (you'll have to replace the 1.0 files then anyway). Lastly, this project will be ever-evolving, so new addons will be available here from time to time. :) ******************************************************** Monday, May 12, 2003: Slice City is ready! Thanks again to all the beta testers of version 1.0 of Slice City "the game within a game..." and for their constructive feedback. The results were much better than expected. This new & improved 1.1 version has many additional buildings, upgrades to the disasters, and a lot of behind-the-scenes adjustments you probably won't ever notice. :) It is available for everyone now on our new Slice City page. Please read the instructions prior to use, and we hope you enjoy! For those of you looking for the Easter Bunny, we moved it to our Beta Objects page until we can determine why the Easter Eggs are not hidden around the lot for some users of the UK & Dutch versions of The Sims. Safety was never a big issue, just it's functionality (doing what it's suppossed to do), and for many of you it will work just fine anyway (particularly U.S. users). You can still download it here, and if you have the time, any constructive feedback (bad or good) would be welcome. :) ******************************************************** May 19, 2003: New Slice City Houses section open! Download a pre-made city to help you get started, or submit one of your own for others to enjoy. All cities are of course on house lots, so they download and install just like normal houses do (instructions provided). We have two available now, posted on our new Slice City Houses page. If you're interested in submitting your city, just click on the Submissions link on the left of this page for details. :) We also put some information in our Programs & Patches page regarding Superstar and reported problems with that when combined with prior Unleashed fixes (done well before Superstar was conceived of). Just a reminder to everyone to read all the requirements very carefully before installing anything new in your game. Many problems with Superstar installations is the failure to remove unofficial fixes from the game prior to installation, so you really need to do that if this applies to you. Since Superstar is brand new, none of our previous fixes are designed to work with it (except those that improve only specific objects). That page will be updated soon. We all just want a fun gaming experience in the end, so if you do have questions, feel free to contact us and we'll try to help with that. :) Minor changes to two Support items were also made: to the NPC Friendship Bears and Mini-Nuclear Reactor. ******************************************************** May 24, 2003: {Edited} One last note, Simslice may be off-line a bit for some rather pricey maintanence. Hopefully it won't happen, but if you try to visit us and get an "error", all is ok and please try back in a few days. Thank you and have a Happy Memorial Day! :) ******************************************************** June 2, 2003: We're back! Sorry for the downtime last week, but we are now fully operational once again! There is still more work going on behind-the-scenes, but nothing that anyone should even notice. :) If you have emailed us and have not received a reply, we apologize for the delay as we are still catching up on things, but you should get one today. Last week (for a few moments on May 24th), a few of you may have seen the new items for Superstar users here, so we wanted to post them properly this week: New Downloadable objects: Alot of requests were received for a Rejuvenation Chamber for Studio Town. We have done the next best thing and made a Rejuvenating Steamer. Now your sims can fully rejuvenate their mind and body while in Studio Town! Also works at home too. You can download this steamer now in our Bathroom Objects section. Thank you to Steve Bonham at The Sims Resource for hosting this for us (and you) while we were temporarily off-line doing upgrades. Dierdre Nox has generously submitted a fix for the gorilla walk that some users are still reporting exists in the Superstar expansion. If that sounds like you, you can download it on our Programs & Patches page now. Please read the instructions very carefully to avoid future gaming problems. Look for an updated version of this patch soon, courtesy of Sir_Laphelot and Deidre: The Visitor Skills/Gorilla Walk for SS will be posted very soon (it's the same as was done for Unleashed users before, but now for SS users too). New Donation objects: Get that instant superstar fame and popularity with the Superstar E-Mentor. Slap it on, and jolt the goods right into your sims brain. Choose any of the over 100 jobs and get them instantly, including the Superstar career track. Also become friends with all stars and neighbors instantly. Make sure to rest your sim afterwards, it is a draining experience. Next, the Superstar Deluxe Rejuvenation Chamber will max out your mood, interests, skills and fame points. Rejuvenate your body and star career at home before heading off to Studio Town for the day. Lastly, the Superstar NPC Generator is also included. Summon Studio Town NPCs to your own home, and a few other bonuses in there as well. All details can be found on our Support Page under the Superstar Pack listing. ******************************************************** June 9, 2003: A Typewriter generously submitted by OddSim - type a story and sell them for profits. Downloadable now in our Miscellaneous Objects section. A new fix by Sir_Laphelot and Deirdre Nox that some of you have been waiting for. You can get the new Superstar Visitor Skills/Gorilla Walk Fix & more upgrade from our Programs & Patches page. Edgeville: our first Slice City guest-submission (House) is now posted, submitted by Edge, a maker of other fine houses here. You can get his pre-made Slice City and others from our new Slice City Houses section. ******************************************************** June 12, 2003: No object update yet, just wanted to let you know we are changing our email around a bit on the back end, and we don't anticipate any temporary disruptions in the process. But if you send us an email and don't get a reply right away, please be patient, it won't last long (if it happens at all). Thank you. ******************************************************** June 16, 2003: Today is Sir_Laphelot Day!... check your calendars, it's written on there... Lots of great new stuff here from a very talented member of the Community... if you run into him in a forums, feel free give him a good 'ol vigorous back patting. :) Here is a list of his latest downloads, all are available on our Programs & Patches page now. For best gameplay, make sure you carefully read the requirements and instructions of each of these prior to use: Cheap Eats Counter upgrade... now updated for Superstar users Superstar Sushi upgrade Superstar Smoothie upgrade Massaging Recliner upgrade Visitor Skills/Join Activity upgrade for Superstar (w/o gorilla walk fix) Also for you Star Trek fans, we have a new Admiral Kathryn Janeway skin (from Star Trek Voyager's final episode: Endgame), submitted by PHCharvie and it is posted with the other Star Trek skins in our Skins section, page 4. ******************************************************** June 23, 2003: Got a new floor submitted by Agnes. It looks pretty cool, dudinit? :) It can be downloaded from our Floors section on page 2 right now (or whenever your clicking finger is ready). ******************************************************** June 26, 2003: Updating early this week! Next update will be about a week from today. We have the Superstar version of Rozzyoo's famous Proposition Hack. Both the previous Unleashed version, and this new Superstar version are included in the same download for your convenience, please read the requirements carefully before using. You can get this now from our Programs & Patches page, on page 3. New Slice City house submitted by Hey900... he was up all night working on it, so he hopes you like it.:) You can download it today from our Slice City Houses section. ******************************************************** July 2 , 2003: Nothing yet (due to last week's early update), but we will have another update here in just a few days. :) ******************************************************** July 8, 2003: Updated the z-buffers on the Harley posted July 4th, so the "fixer's" arms don't overlap the bike anymore during repairs. Other than that cosmetic change, it's the same object as before. Also, I know updates have been off-beat lately, so starting next Monday, we'll be back on track with our regular updates consistantly on Monday. Happy Birthday Mom! ******************************************************** July 4, 2003: Happy Fourth of July! And in celebration of America's Independence Day, what could be more American (...in this biker's opinion that is...) than a new Harley download. Earn Fun and Mechanical points while restoring this new Harley. Thanks to agent_orange for the graphics. It is a clone of our original Harley Fixer-Upper, but with new graphics, and lower ad values (so your Sims won't obsess on it like before). You can download it now from our Miscellaneous Objects section. Also, don't forget to check out the animated American Flag -- it's an older download, but one that sims can salute and put their hand over their heart when viewing it. It's in Decorative Objects, page 5. Also, we're in the process of answering our emails now, so if you are expecting a reply, please be patient and we'll get to it. Have a safe and fun-filled Fourth everyone! :). ******************************************************** July 14, 2003: Some people have been reporting problems with a lack of visitors on their Downtown, Vacation or Studio Town lots since installing Superstar. Sir_Laphelot has some fixes that should help with that, and without compromising slower systems. Also, a long-awaited Studio Town Buy/Build Mode enabler is available. Please read all instructions carefully, and remember to remove these downloads before installing any official patches or future expansions. All these and more are available on the Programs & Patches page. Enjoy! :). Late addition: I almost forgot, I added a few pics from Camp Jeep 2003 to the About Us section, if anyone's interested... it's not much yet, and I'll add more soon. :) ******************************************************** July 21, 2003: Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!! Tired of dealing with the Obsessive Fan, Tragic Clown or El Bandito (to name just a few)? Or are you just a silly person at heart? The Sims first "guard tomatoes" will stand ever-so watchful in your yard... and should any annoying or unwelcome NPC enter your lot, live tomato NPCs will spring out and hunt them down. Finally get the peace and quiet you deserve, thanks to these vicious veggie friends. They are downloadable now from our Outside/Build Mode objects section. Enjoy! :) ******************************************************** July 28, 2003: Unleashed Vegetable Cart Upgrade... upgrade! Now you can buy more vegetables and in more areas too. Much more convenient, thanks to Sir_Laphelot. Check out our Programs & Patches page 2 for this improved version. Also, Slice City fans have been waiting for some new addons, and we should have some nice ones ready by next Monday. :) ******************************************************** August 4, 2003: Good News & Bad News... The good news is we have a new Slice City object for you - the green highway sign is ready for download now in our Slice City section (click here to scroll down to the bottom of the Slice City page for this download). Great for accentuating your existing road floor tiles. It's also got a surprise option for those lovey-dovey sims too... The bad news is the new Road Tile "object" is not ready. You can still use the existing floor tiles until then. This new road tile actually works far better than we had hoped, but with one major drawback... when a citizen group is "on" the new road tile, they can't be interacted with (stomped on, etc.). When clicked on, the game selects the road, not the citizens. Until we resolve this issue, the road tile won't be ready. Sorry about that, but we're sure you'd rather have us release it later, while in a format that doesn't reduce other gameplay options. Please check back later for more details as they arise. ******************************************************** August 11, 2003: New Slice City Marina! A new marina for your Slice City - placeable on water only of course. Sea-faring city citizens may even take out a boat for a quick spin around the lake. New interactions too. This can be downloaded from our Slice City section (click here to scroll down to the bottom of the Slice City page for this download). Unleashed expansion pack required. Please visit our Support page to find out how you can help, and find out more about the Pet Accessories Incentive Pack. ******************************************************** Septebmer 8. 2003: [Update lost - sorry] However, based on memory, this was the week we announced Sir_Laphelot's new Yahoo group, Laphelots Sim Solutions, which can be found linked on our Links page. And we also provided the updated Zencat NPC where the "Pay Tribute" interaction was greatly improved (to max out or greatly reduce the affected mood instead of the "trickle" it gave before). And we added FIVE NEW RECOLORED ZENCATS: BLUE, MAROON, GREEN, CONCRETE AND SHIMMERING PURPLE. ******************************************************** September 15, 2003: Guard Tomatoes Updated... Tweeked for those that requested it. If you tried and enjoyed the original Guard Tomatoes, you do not need to download this update. It is only for those few users that experienced stray pet problems. It was also updated for international users and a few other tweaks were done as well, which you can read all about on our Nasty Snarling Drooling Veggies Page. Windowcat Designs: Have a website you want to improve, or are you looking to start one? Check out www.windowcat.com for full-service web site development and hosting that is very affordable. Sorry, it's our first and last ad here. ;) ******************************************************** September 18, 2003: Many of you are aware of Hurricane Isabel approaching the U. S. We do not anticipate any problems here as a result. However on the off-chance there is a temporary disruption of any services, please take this into account. Thank you. ********************************************************+ September 22, 2003: Updated a few webpage designs. Still in the process of more site improvements that have been long needed, including installing a search engine. The new Downloads section (click to the left) provides one-page access to all downloads on this site (except the Beta Objects, which are accessible from this homepage only). Links currently in the new Downloads section are a bit large and will be shrunk down some very soon. See our FAQ page for questions about Spotlighted or Top 2 listings above. Also, for those of you who have had the problem of Bartender Waylon making unexpected appearances in Studio Town and causing gameplay problems, Sir_Laphelot has come up with a new fix for you. Check out the new and improved Bartender Waylon fix on our Programs & Patches page. ******************************************************** September 29, 2003: New Free Download on our Beta page... now you can instantly move a new roomie "the Starving Artist" (pic on the left, below) quickly into your home whenever you want. He is not an NPC, he becomes a fully playable character in your "family". He will then unpack his box of stuff to move in his painting easel, his plant and his many other items to make him feel right at home in his new digs. This has been extensively tested with no problems, but we are uncertain of the requirements, so for this reason alone, it's in Beta (for now). More details on the Beta page. At-Home express child adoption (no more need for days of baby care) At-Home dog and cat adoptions At-Home 24/7 Rescue Worker NPC with adoption forms. October is "Adopt A Shelter Dog" Month: This special Adoption Incentive Pack (pic on the right, above) was created in honor of Adopt A Shelter Dog Month, so your Sims can celebrate it "at-home" with a variety of at-home adoption objects. We will be making a donation to our local non-profit animal rescue group this month. In addition, based on how many people receive this Pack, we will match dollar for dollar every donation we receive, and make additional donations to the rescue group. We do this at a significant cost to us, but we do so because every bit helps save animal's lives. This is our choice and you do not have to donate. But if you do, please note that your donation is still to Simslice and it still keeps our services and free weekly downloads coming, as always... but also know that your generosity in this case will also help save a life too. Click here for details. ******************************************************** October 6, 2003: The new Slice City version 1.2 is ready! My sincerest thanks to Sir_Laphelot for all his tireless efforts, which are just too numerous to mention. Although the updates aren't that abundant, it literally took us months of work to complete them. Every file had to be adjusted to conform to international readability and some to the new City Road "object" that people have been requesting since Slice City was first released. I made language adjustments for every country version, so all non-U.S. users always see the same text as U.S. users (no more "new interaction" labels). Speclal thanks to Jeanne in Holland for providing descriptions and text in the Dutch language, and for beta testing. Click here to jump to the Slice City page for all the details. Contest #6 is coming very soon. Some info is on our Contests page now. Updated information available on the BETA Starving Arist download, thanks to Klimtdecor and all the others who wrote us with help and feedback. :) ******************************************************** October 13, 2003: Jumpin' Jehosephat! A Search Engine is born! I may have spelled Jumpin' wrong. Anyway, now you can do a keyword search for any item on this site. Basic and advanced searches available. The new "Search Site" button is down the left side of this page (at the bottom of the other buttons). Or you can jump right to the search engine page by clicking here. Updates were made to the Easter Bunny BETA object that hopefully will solve the problem some of you (particularly UK users) were having with the eggs not appearing. All I did was remove the .iff files from the .far file and tweaked the bunny file a tad. Testers have reported this did the trick, but I guess we'll see. If you want to give it a shot, you can try it now from our Beta Page. If you downloaded it before, you'll have to delete the prior download first. New details about the upcomming Contest will be posted this week, and maybe even a start date! (...it won't start this week though). I also updated the homepage here a bit with little info button thingys in the Spotlight sections above. ******************************************************** October 17, 2003: Contest page updated, but not much new info is available yet. ******************************************************** October 20, 2003: Contest page has been updated again, and we'll have newer information posted this week about our upcoming Scavenger Hunt. This contest should have more prizes available than any contest we've had before, and there will be something for everyone who participates. So if you ever wanted to join in a contest here before, this is going to be a good one (we hope). When the contest starts, private forum rooms will be available for teams to exchange notes privately if they need them. You don't have to be on a team if you don't want to, but we'll make it easy enough for anyone to be teamed up who wants to be. Check our Contest page for the latest information now, and more will be provided soon. :) Sir_Laphelot has updated the Multiple Rose Bush with some new and interesting features. Check it all out on our Decorative Objects page right here. ******************************************************** October 21, 2003: - Help, we're haunted! - Halloween is coming soon, and now rumor has it that this site is haunted! Eeek! Several of our downloads have broken free and are reeking havoc. We need your help to find them. If you can find all seven "ghosts" haunting this site, you'll receive this special (hacked) ghost-busting Halloween appreciation prize: Object works with any version of The Sims. All we need from you is the URL (the "www." address) of each haunted web page, and a (very brief) description of that ghost so we'll know what we're up against. Please email your information to us by clicking here. The ghosts like JavaScript, so adjust your browser to read that if you need to. Obviously we like corn, but we won't go there now. Thank you for helping us to cleanse our site of these silly lil' menaces. ;) ******************************************************** October 27, 2003: Thank you to everyone who helped us rid our site of those pesky haunting menaces (text has been moved to the News Archives) - all "download ghosts" have been removed and are successfully contained in a special room pending the end of Halloween. We hope you enjoyed the early bird object prize. For those that didn't participate in the ghost hunt, come back to this site on Wednesday, October 29th for a special new Halloween download! Scavenger Hunt II starts next week! Some details are on our Contest page now, and more information will be posted there next Monday, as well as in our Forums. :) Also, some web pages were updated (pics only, not the downloads), including the Guard Tomatoes pic (below) which now show what the Tomato NPCs look like in the game... and the Slice City v1.2 pic (above), which now shows the moving rushhour traffic that Slice City version 1.2 offers via the new Road objects (pic above is not in motion, but traffic is fluidly moving from tile to tile in the game). A new Wall by Agnes has been posted in our Walls section, page 2. We also updated the very first page of the Programs & Patches section -- we added a pop-alert window that we hope won't prove annoying. It's very important information for all patch downloaders -- it lists the file names and folder locations of all our fixes/upgrades so they can be removed safely from your game prior to installing the new Makin' Magic expansion (if you're planning on getting it that is). You can also read this alert page by clicking here. ******************************************************** October 29, 2003: Happy Halloween! (almost). Click skull pic below to visit our Decorative objects page and download our special 2003 Halloween object. :) ******************************************************** November 2, 2003: Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween! We also hope you enjoyed our little celebration of it here last week with the spontaneous Ghost Hunt, the new skull download, the Multiple Rose Bush update and the twisted Halloween homepage design. The update for this week (tomorrow) is something that we've been talking about for a while now -- the Scavenger Hunt II Contest! Please check back tomorrow (Monday) when the contest begins, or visit our Contests page now for the latest posted info. See-ya Monday! :) ******************************************************** November 3, 2003: Let the hunt begin! Click here to play the Scavenger Hunt! ******************************************************** November 10, 2003: Many new objects this week, plus a Scavenger Hunt Contest question adjustment... New Makin' Magic Free Downloads: Slater's Strange Brew Cart and Black Market Super Starter Kit: Slater, previously seen at his Vacation Biker Bar (see spotlight above) has returned again, this time to peddle his new strange homebrew. Special effects likely and results can vary from good to the bizarre (but non-lethal). Also new is a revved up version of the Magical Starter Kit - get unlimited MagiCoins and other spell-making ingredients. See our new Makin' Magic Objects page for these free downloads. Makin' Magic required; objects also adjusted for all country versions of The Sims. New Makin' Magic Donation Items: Slater's Black Market Cart and a new Makin' Magic NPC Generator: Slater (a shady NPC we made for you) carries a full assortment of "creatively acquired" items to suit all your magical needs. So whatever item it is that you're looking for, Slater's got it! Buy any and all ingredients, spells, charms, abilities, MagiCoins, Wands, etc. etc. This is not just the ultimate semi-cheat for Makin' Magic users, but it is also a fun game object to have, with a new NPC vendor (Slater) and a few fun surprises too. Also included in this new Magical Incentive Pack is an NPC Generator for Makin' Magic - summon all the cool new NPCs at any time (or in any number) you want. All these items work at home, Downtown, on Vacation Island, Old Town, Studio Town or on any Magical Town home lots. These are part of the new Magical Incentive Pack. Makin' Magic required; objects also adjusted for all country versions of The Sims. Contest Question #9 has been reworded: This question has been reworded slightly to minimize possible confusion of it's meaning. If you already submitted your answer and wish to change it, that's fine just let us know. See the Scavenger Hunt list on the Contest Page for the details. :) ******************************************************** November 17, 2003: As some of you know, the Slater's Super Starter Kit was updated on Monday (later the same day as the original posting) so that three of the ingredients would be put into the proper inventory category. If you downloaded it on last Monday (the 10th), you may want to redownload it now for the update. The rest of you should already have it. Sorry 'bout that. ;) I finally did it! All Rejuvenation Chambers, Debilitation Chambers, the Rejuvenation Steamer and the new Makin' Magic items have been updated to be buyable in all lots now (at-home, Downtown, Vacation, etc. blah blah). Non-US/UK game users will also get proper pie menu labels too. These all can be found sprinkled in Electronic Objects, Bathroom Objects and Makin' Magic Objects sections. Hope you enjoy them. :) The two new downloads planned for today had to be delayed for a little more spit-shining. If it's completed before next Monday, we'll post them here early. More details about all upcoming items are in our Previews section as always. A Contest Hint! Players can revisit our Contests page for a hint on Question #4... ******************************************************** November 19, 2003: Happy Birthday Edge! One of our forum mods is having a very special birthday today - feel free to drop by our forums and wish him well (or give him hell hehheh...j/k). ;) ******************************************************** November 24, 2003: Well, we hope it's been a fun three weeks for you, but sadly our Scavenger Hunt contest ends at midnight tonight (US EST). So if you haven't handed in your entries yet, make sure you send them in today. Details are on our Contest page. :) I made my first Makin' Magic house! Whoohoo! The Wizard's House, with lots of fun surprises hidden about, is downloadable in the Houses section now. Some new upgrades are here for Makin' Magic users, thanks to Sir_Laphelot -- they are in our Programs & Patches page They include the MM version of the Gorilla walk fix, two options for those that have low (or no) visitor turnouts on their away-from-home lots, and a Join Activity & Visitor Skills upgrade compatable with MM. Don't forget to see our Previews page for a glimpse of what's-a-comin' down the pike. ******************************************************** November 25, 2003: Scavenger Hunt Contest is closed. Please give us a couple of weeks to post results. ******************************************************** December 1, 2003: Scavenger Hunt entries are being reviewed now, and we hope to have winners announced on the next site update (next Monday). Buy/Build mode enablers for Makin' Magic users have been posted in our Programs & Patches section, thanks to Daveh -- please carefully review all requirements before using. Also new: the Flowers & Shubs and Pizza & Burger upgrades... have been upgraded, for use by Makin' Magic users, thanks to Sir_Laphelot. Those can be found in that same section at the top of page 2. Lots of exciting new objects are coming soon, some are listed on our Previews section. Our Archive Spotlight: Freebie of the Week this week is SimSimon again... in tribute, because in real life he's not feeling well right now. :( ******************************************************** December 8, 2003: *gasp* *pant* The Scavenger Hunt II results are in! Check out our Contests page for the answers, winners and everything else. Congratulations to all who played, we hope you enjoyed it... and a special congrads goes to all the winners, especially the First Place team... The G-Team! Multiple Espresso machine was updated by Sir_Laphelot. Check out all the cool new features in Kitchen Objects, page 2. ******************************************************** December 15, 2003: A new Animated TV is recolored from our original Animated TV, thanks to Aunt B of Sim and Let Sim. Check out the News broadcast via our Electronic Objects page. We also updated our Santa's Lap just in time for the holidays. Now your Sim children can talk to Santa in any of your away-from-home lots, shopping malls, department stores, etc. (enabled for all lots now, including Magic Town). It's in the Miscellaneous Objects section, page 2. Lastly, our Hang Your Own Paintings Easel we've been talking about in the Previews section for a while is near completion and it should be posted next week! ******************************************************** December 22, 2003: Happy Holidays! And we've got some brand new goodies today, our gifts to you... A surprise new Christmas download - your Sim children can send a letter to Santa, and if they have been good, one of his little "helpers" (...hehheh...) will wrap and hand-deliver a present to you! Makin' Magic is required for this one. You can download our special Christmas 2003 add-on from our Makin' Magic Objects section. Merry Christmas everyone, I hope you enjoy it! Secondly, this is something I (and probably many others) have received requests for since the beginning days of Sims object making, and it's finally been done. It's the first set of the "Hang Your Own Paintings" Easels! Two colors are available: dark purple and black. These easels function the same way as the standard easels do, except when a painting is finished, you have the option to either sell... or to frame and hang the picture you just painted! Both of these require Superstar. However if you don't have Superstar, don't worry - I plan to have more of these easels posted next week that will work with any version of The Sims. You can get these SS easels now in our Miscellaneous Objects section. Happy Holidays, and we hope you have a safe, warm and healthy holiday season! Thank you for taking the time to visit with us. -Steve (Homeslice) ******************************************************** December 29, 2003: We hope everyone had a fun holiday season, it's sad to see it go. The "Hang Your Own Paintings" easels that do not require Superstar (or any other expansion) are now ready and are posted in our Miscellaneous objects section. These will work for any game version, however if you have Superstar then we recommend you use the Superstar versions instead (they are a little better in some ways, but both versions are basically the same). All are available in Miscellaneous objects, next to each other. The Superstar Buy/Build Mode enablers are added to our Programs & Patches page, courtesy of Daveh. ******************************************************** December 31, 2003: Just wanted to drop in an wish you a very HAAAAAPPY New Year! Please stay safe, but have fun too! If you plan on celebrating any with your favorite Sims, we recommend trying our New Years TV from last year, it has loads of surprises packed in it. Take care and see you next year! -Homeslice ******************************************************** January 5, 2004: Donation stuff: The Rejuvitron: The next generation of rejuvination technology is here! Made by Sims using scraps around their house and yard. And now you can use this Rejuvitron to beem safe radiation rays around the lot and sculpt that party (or family) to your liking. It's more than a cheat, it's fun to use and has entertaining (potential) consequences for sims with low mechanical skills. Looks, sounds and animations should make it fun to use too. Basically, you can use this to adjust any mood, skill, personality trait, interest or fame level of everyone on the lot at your whim! Certain moods can be set to be automatically refreshed for everyone at regular intervals, so everyone can spend more time doing the things they want to do instead of clogging up the bathrooms. :) No expansions required. Click here to read more... Mystical Fountain "Essense" and Love Crystal "Essense": These do some really neat stuff, including maxing out the room scores at all times. The Mystical Fountain painting has " Nice" effects on a Sim, can involve the Sim in the Sims Mystical Society if they choose, provides a new kind of newsletter and much more. The Love Crystal painting can make any Sim not just friends, but lovers with literally every Sim in the game all at once. This might make that next party much more interesting! As above, these are not simply cheats, there are fun gameplay elements to them, and (potential) consequences if your Sim has been bad. Click here to read more... We also permanently did away with Incentive Pack #1 and #2, our oldest Packs and we put those objects into one new Combo Pack. So if you were ever interested in either of those, now you can get them both together. Free Stuff: Three new Love Crystals: We changed the purple Love Crystal and because of this, we removed the prior red crystal. The purple Love Crystal will now summon a random adult lover only of the opposite gender of the Sim (we had a lot of requests for this). A new red Crystal has been made that will only summon a random adult lover of the same gender as the Sim (and we had a lot of requests for this too). Lastly, a new blue Crystal has been made that will randomly summon either gender or any player character in the game (and we mean any...). The Crystals have been moved from Miscellaneous Objects to their new home in the Decorative Objects section. The Guard Tomatoes have been updated for Makin' Magic users: A new tomato NPC named "Mysterio" has joined the patch and is ready to get right to work, ridding unwelcome MM intruders from your lot. As always, no expansions are required to use these veggies. They are in our Outside/Build Mode Objects section. Lastly, we kept the New Years TV in the spotlight above -- it's our first update for the new year and it seemed an appropriate spotlight for this week too. :) ******************************************************** January 12 , 2004: Visit with Santa in a Vacation island resort - good children get gifts from Santa while you relax away your stresses. It's in our Houses section now. Submitted by teddin8r. ******************************************************** January 19, 2004: Brand new Hang Your Own Paintings easel with four new paintings! Images made by MJ. This can be found in our Miscellaneous Objects section. Nice work MJ! :) ******************************************************** January 26, 2004: Brand new Slice City Addons: Parking garage, trees and a cross-roads (with stop signs). Submitted by Aunt B at Sim and let Sim. Find them at the bottom of the Slice City page. Check out our Previews page for even more buildings (next week). :) ******************************************************** February 7, 2004: Five new Slice City Landmarks by Homeslice! Now your Sims can talk to their Slice City citizens! (in a limited way). Buy the Slice City Hall (shown above in center) and consult with the City Council about the construction of potential new landmarks. New gamplay features and surprises included! Works with any version of Slice City. Washington DC-themed landmarks include: Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, U.S. Capitol Building and the White House. ******************************************************** February 14, 2004: Indoor Olympics: Peter submitted a downtown lot with various indoor sports and activities. Updated a tad by Homeslice too. It's in our Houses section now. :) ******************************************************** February 16th: The second (of 2) Indoor Olympics lots: Peter submitted a Vacation Island lot for volleyball enthusiasts to enjoy. Updated a tad by Homeslice too. It's in our Houses section now. We are working on a few new object downloads, and will have one of them finished and posted next Monday (we'll try to put more details in our Previews section during the week). Happy Post-Valentines Day! :) ******************************************************** February 18, 2004: Simslice was recently written up by the BBC News. Our sincere thanks goes to the BBC and also to Bunny Wuffles for bringing it to our attention. If you're interested in reading what they said you can click here to read the BBC article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/3495285.stm Simslice was also interviewed by Wired Magazine (online), if you're interested you can click here to read the Wired.com article: http://www.wired.com/news/games/0,2101,62287,00.html Our thanks goes out to reporter Daniel Terdiman ******************************************************** February 23, 2004: I know we never do this, but because of a really long weekend (and week), our update today will be delayed a few days pending some final tweaking and testing of the objects. New Slice City Seaport objects, a safe and fun Family Fireplace and more should be here on Thursday the 26th. Screenshots and more details are on our Previews page now. In the News: United Kingdom residents can check out next month's issue of PC Gamer Magazine for an article about Slice City (and possibly content in the coverdisc too). It should be released in March. Brazilian visitors who read the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper today should see an article about Slice City printed in there along with some new high-resolution screenshots. Online articles have been written about Simslice last week by BBC News, Wired Magazine, VH1 and several others. Our sincere appreciation goes out to everyone involved. Additional links pending Thursday's update. We are also preparing a Sims 2 page which should be up and running by next week. Busy week! :) ******************************************************** February 27, 2004: Twelve new objects: for Slice City users and for donors..... Freebies: New Slice City Seaport! Now your Slice City citizens can dabble in the import and export business... and the highs (and lows) that come with it. New interactions, objects and gameplay features included. Plus several fun surprises. You can access this download from the Slice City page now by clicking here. Donors: realistic Family Fireplaces, at-home goodies and super paintings: I really had fun testing these - finally Sims can use a realistic fireplace that will warm their cockles and give them the true fireplace experience they deserve! There are so many interactions -- such as cooking group meals for family and guests (even kids can cook in it too!); stoking the flames for fun and to prolong the life of the fire; even sitting back and relaxing in front of the fire while increasing Fun, Comfort and Social (via group conversation). Pranksters can even "burn stuff". Best of all, it is a safe fireplace - it spreads no real fire, so now your Sims can finally hang their favorite painting over the mantle without taking their life in their hands. ;) Speaking of paintings, there are two included in this Family Incentive Pack that will max out the room score of everyone, and keep it maxed out always. Great for adding to the relaxing ambiance of your fireside chat. At-Home Express child adoptions are included too, to increase the size of your family - instantly! (no more need for days of baby care). Very simliar to our original purple one (not included). Comes in blue for boys and pink for girls. An Awards & Articles section is now open - special thanks to those that requested this and those who honored us with it's content. A blue button has been added to the left for this section, or you can just click here to access our Awards & Articles page. Another new section which has been a long time coming - The Sims 2! It is sparse at the moment, but it will be added to each week with the latest, and often with pre-released news, screenshots, etc. Another blue button was added on the left for that too, or you can click here to access our Sims 2 page. ******************************************************** March 1, 2004*: Twelve new objects: for Slice City users and fun Family Fireplaces for donors... Below is a listing of the off-time updates from Friday, plus today we updated our new The Sims 2 page with pre-released screen shots and a new sample of one of the Simmish musical tracks that will be in The Sims 2 game. Special thanks to Macey for a wonderful recoloring job of our original purple set. Visit the Object Sets page to check them out and download them now. ******************************************************** March 15, 2004: Put Brand New Sounds In Any Object - using one convenient tool! This is a tool that players have been wanting since the beginning days of object editing. Recently, Simslice has been working with Parsimonious in testing a groundbreaking new program that they created called Pi Sim Sounds. It has been tested and is being released today. This program allows a player to add in and hear custom .wav and .mp3 files from in- game objects (and not like the radios do). You can also add in .xa files from other objects, all with this one free tool. For example, our new Harley Alarm (left) uses brand new Harley sounds when it rings. There is a custom .wav file included that, when properly installed, allows this new sound to work in the object. The Pi Sim Sounds program opens up a new wide range of possibilities for object creators and players alike. For details about how we made this object, check out Simslice's New Sound Hacking Tutorial & Workshop. Or you can just visit our Electronic Objects page to download this alarm now. Also, Simslice is proud to host the new Pi Sim Sounds forum where visitors can read or discuss this new program in greater detail. Congratulations to Pi and the awesome folks at Parsimonious for this wonderful new addition to the Sims Community! Our Super Coffee (above) is remaining in the spotlight again this week because of a broken link last week. If you tried to download it before and couldn't, we apologize for the inconvenience and if you try again now it should work fine. :) ******************************************************** March 22, 2004: New Slice City Objects... and a Slice City video! We reconstructed the Slice City page, and put the addons on a separate page. Three mini- trees were added today, courtesy of Josh C. Click here to visit the adjusted Slice City page but if you only want to download the new trees, Click here to visit the Slice City Addons Page. Those that viewed Don Hopkin's Rug-O-Matic streaming video tutorial also got a glimpse at a few Slice City actions at the 6 minute mark. Click here if you want to see it too. ******************************************************** March 29, 2004: New Contest Begins Today: the Slice City Construction Contest! Participate in our first Slice City making contest, win prizes and have your city posted on Simslice. Contest starts today and will run for three weeks. To view details about this (including prize pics), drop on by our Contests Page. Hope you enjoy it. :) We also added some more page-links for Don Hopkin's latest creations on our Programs & Patches pages and Links page. We also updated some of Aunt B's objects (with her permission) that we forgot to announce last week (sorry). Details were/are listed on the Slice City Addon's page. ******************************************************** April 5, 2004: After a long week (and weekend), time has slipped on by me a little too quickly. So I'll be able to update this site properly on Tuesday instead of today. But there was an update a few days ago -- those who were observant enough may have seen our (very little) April Fools joke on the 1st. :) See you Tuesday! ******************************************************** April 6, 2004: The Original Rejuvenation Chamber was updated -- the "shoo" responses and water puddles have been removed. It will work on all lots, and even has a new GUID. But it is essentially still the same object, so this updated version will completely replace the prior version. You can get it in Electronic Objects on page 3 by clicking here. Our Slice City Building Contest has entered it's first week, and entries are being received. There are still two more weeks to go, so if you are interested in participating, check out our Contests Page for details. :) ******************************************************** April 12, 2004: The MagiCoin Flusher, the Makin' Magic version of our original Money Flusher, is available in the Bathroom Objects section today. Works as a regular toilet too, and might have a fun surprise in store for your curious guests. The B-List, a wonderful site and source of links and help for finding Sim sites and locating specific downloads, has opened a new forum: "The Swarm"! Click here to check it out - you won't regret it. The Slice City Building Contest is entering it's final week. If you are interested in sending us your Slice City/House lot, you might win a prize! Visit our Contest Page for details. This contest is scheduled to end next Monday. Three new prereleased The Sims 2 screenshots have been posted on our Sims 2 Page. Brand new weather is on the way! And it's a major cut above our original Weather Machine, with some amazing new features too! Some pics are in our Previews section now. Stay tuned for more details... ******************************************************** April 16, 2004: Just a quick update about the new weather. We believe we've finally created a "real climate" in The Sims where weather conditions can come and go just as they do in real life. Click here to read the latest information about the Deluxe Weather Machine. A few screenshots are in our Previews section as well. If this interests you, then please visit us again on Monday evening for a very special update. :) ******************************************************** April 19, 2004 -- NEW WEATHER CLIMATE SYSTEM! For Donors: A fully functional, simulated weather climate in the game! Now you can install a realistic natural weather system that runs autonomously in the game -- up to nine (9) possible animated weather conditions can come and go on their own, in accordance with the daily Weather Report and... the current Season (Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter now possible in the game!). This system acts almost just like real weather and is a major cut above our previous Weather Machine. We also made a Weather FAQ page and a gallery of screenshots. Click here to read about the new Deluxe Weather Seasons Package! The Slice City Building contest has been extended for one more week. It will definitely end on Monday, April 26th, so if you still want to participate, please submit your enties by then. Visit our Contest page for details and prize list. Mabel the Chicken has been updated - nothing too major, but some said the ssssssuprise was a bit too...um... "prolific"... so we performed a little Sim spay/neutering and you can download the updated files now from our Miscellaneous Objects section, page 3 if this has been an issue for you. UK Residents who got this month's copy of PC Gamer Magazine will see a small article about Slice City. Those who don't live in the UK can read the article here. ******************************************************** April 26, 2004: Flippy The Clown NPC (non-player character) has been updated - visit our Decorative Objects page 2 for all details. Don't forget to check out Flippyland in our Houses section too! Also we added five new pre-released Sims 2 screenshots (including a neighborhood screen) on our Sims 2 Page that you probably won't see elsewhere yet. Slice City Building Contest ends tonight at midnight! (US EST) ******************************************************** May 3, 2004 Get a sneak preview of not-yet-released sample musical tracks from the upcomming Sims 2 game. Click here to visit our Sims 2 page and download this new mp3 with catchy new Simmish jingles. Also the Slice City Building Contest ended last week, but entries are still being reviewed -- please check back next week for more information about that. ******************************************************** May 10, 2004 The Debilitation Chamber was updated similarly to the way the Rejuvenation Chamber was last month - the "shoo" responses and water puddles were removed, so Sims will can this publically or privately. Slice City fans should be getting a major new addon next week -- with new buildings, gameplay, and fun ways for Sims to make money off their cities. It's tentatively named: Slice City Vega$ Slice City Building Contest judges are just about finished. There were lots of great entries, and we hope to have the results posted very soon. ******************************************************** May 12, 2004: Slice City Vega$ - Preview pic of six new buildings ******************************************************** May 17, 2004: Today is Slice City Day! (well, apparently...) ;) First, we have a brand new add-on following a Las Vegas motif: The Slice City Casino District! Now your citizens (and your Sims) can experience all the ups and downs of casino life with six new buildings, many new gameplay features and a great new way for your Sims to earn extra Simoleans. Visit our Slice City Add-ons page to download The Casino District now. Also, the results for our first Slice City Building Contest are in! The winning submissions are posted for download. A hearty congratulations goes out to Nick, Simguy and Teddin8r for their winning entries! Special thanks goes out to all the judges for their efforts, and to everyone who participated in this contest. I hope it was fun for everyone. Details are posted on our Contests Page now. ******************************************************** May 24, 2004: A new Sims 2 Story written by Maxis staff, as well as nine new pre-released screenshots for the Sims 2 to accompany it. Also download new pics of The Sims 2 showing at the recent E3 show. All are posted on our Sims 2 page now. ******************************************************** May 31, 2004: Because of the (U.S.) holiday, we will update this site on Wednesday, June 2nd, and we'll have a new object download for you. Please revisit us at that time. Thank you, and Happy Memorial Day! ******************************************************** June 1, 2004: Will Wright NPC! This NPC is not a giant as in MM - he is a regular sized Sim visitor you can interact with! Your Sims can talk with him, they can play games together, go downtown to hang out, etc. etc. Also, there's no need to generate him via another object in the game - you can put him on your lot easily via Buy Mode. Makin' Magic required. You can download this from our Miscellaneous Objects page 1 now. Hope you enjoy it. :) Also four new pre-released pics from the upcoming The Sims 2 game are on our Sims 2 Page now. I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! ******************************************************** June 7, 2004: Download brand new pre-released desktop wallpapers depicting The Sims 2! I also added some download text links because a few people had problems clicking on the pics, and I will be adding more text links each week until all items are covered. ******************************************************** June 14, 2004: Greeting Cards emailed to friends that run in the game... and give a gift to your Sims too! I made these three Greeting/Gift card "game objects" especially for our amazing forum staff. Each card includes a personalized graphic & message that is viewable in the game when the Sim reads it, followed by an in-game present that appears near the Sim. I hope your Sims enjoy these too. Each card is different and all three can be downloaded from our Decorative Objects section. Personalized custom in-game Greeting Cards for others (a friend's birthday, holiday, or just to say hi) can be made special for you by Homeslice upon request (see webpage for details as they arise). I also added some more download text links because a few people had problems clicking on the pics, and I will be adding more text links each week until all items are covered. ******************************************************** June 19, 2004 - early update! Download a new pre-released "romance" video from The Sims 2 from our Sims 2 page. Also, we've already been receiving requests, so I wanted to mention that our new custom in-game Greeting Card service should be ready to go next week. I also added some more download text links because a few people had problems clicking on the pics, and I will be adding more text links each week until all items are covered. ******************************************************** June 29, 2004 Maxis has announced new information about how user-made content will be introduced into the upcoming Sims 2 game. Click here to read all about it in our forums. My apologies, but because of personal issues I was a day late updating this site and was unable to finish the In-game Greeting Card webpages in time for today. But they are almost there, and I will work hard this week to get them finished very soon. I fixed the Vulcan Kal-toh link on Miscellaneous objects page 5 and also added some more download text links to our Objects Sets page because a few people had problems clicking to download from the pics. All free objects should now have text and image download links. I will be adding more text links each week until all our items are covered. ******************************************************** July 5, 2004 NEW IN-GAME GREETING CARD SECTION IS NOW OPEN! Have you ever sent an electronic greeting card to a friend? Well, we're taking it to a whole new level, for fans of The Sims! Whether it's a birthday, holiday, or just to say something nice, you can send a friend a personalized Greeting Card "object" that actually runs in the game. You can customize the design and write in your own message. Sims enjoy it when they read it too because it boosts their Fun and Social... and gives them a present too! Visit our new Greeting Cards page for details: http://www.simslice.com/greetingcards.htm ******************************************************** July 12, 2004 Download eight new pre-released screenshots of The Sims 2 from our Sims 2 page. Both updated Harleys are on our Miscellaneous Objects section. We also hope to have a new Harley there soon! Want to hear the next generation of "Simish"? Some hilarious sound files have been posted for your listening pleasure. Also is information from two Maxis employees working on the project, with some interesting insights into how sound evolved in both The Sims and The Sims 2. All this and more is on our Sims 2 page now. The Slice City Air & Space Port is just about done. Check out our Previews page for some preliminary details from our Forums. More details will be posted soon. With the updates, I didn't post any Camp Jeep 2004 pics in our About Us section yet, but I will next week. Limited Time Offer -- Get A Free Greeting Card! It was made using the upcoming "The Sims 2 Movie Maker". We also added the Online Games button to the left to make it easier to access our free online games page. ******************************************************** August 23, 2004 As some of you know, Cindy and I just got engaged (and thanks to those of you in our forums who expressed your well wishes :)). So I'm a little backed-up on things here, but should have a new free object completed and posted by next Monday. They're on our Sims 2 page now. ******************************************************** August 29, 2004 We have a big surprise ...and... a little surprise! Two new NPCs are ready and awaiting your mouse-clicking finger on our Miscellaneous Objects page now. Big John is your typical Sim guy, but stands twice as large as any other Sim on the lot! Lil' Bill is much the same way... except he's twice as small. You need the Makin' Magic expansion to use 'em though. Enjoy! Check out our Sims 2 Page for a sneak-peak at the musical score by Mark Mothersbaugh (of Devo fame) written for the credits of the upcoming The Sims 2 game. Details about our latest Contest and the 20 new prizes are on our Contests page now. I had hoped to have a Water Volleyball Court ready today, but due to unexpected personal reasons and a lack of time, I finished all except the animations. They are done, but just need to be "lowered" so players don't stand on the water. If any Simpose experts want to join in the fun (and credit), feel free to contact us. Otherwise, we'll finish and post it at a later date. In the meantime, there is a new Sims 2 download file -- some of you may have already seen it by now: The Sims 2 Prima Guide for BodyShop. The Tombstone Factory - Customize your own objects online! (added Oct. 31, 2004) http://www.originalsims.com/halloween This is a collaborative project between Simslice and Don Hopkins (creator of the Sims Transmogrifier) and it is a free service for members and non-members. Now for the first time ever, you can customize an in-game object to your liking, using the convenience of your web browser! Simply write and upload text along with an image of your choosing, and have it automatically coded right into your new object. It can then be downloaded and played in the game. It's sort of like a Halloween Greeting Card... but with a lot of fun twists! For each Tombstone you make, you will be provided with a custom webpage containing your description, image and a download link to your personalized Tombstone. Another link will be available for you to email that page (and link) to your friends if you want -- or you can even add your object to "The Cemetery" -- a database of downloadable Tombstones made by and for the public. All Tombstones of course have unique GUIDs... don't worry, we thought of everything. ;) Click here to visit The Original Sims and start etching on your slab right away! Happy Halloween! Base objects were made by Simslice and customized using software by Don Hopkins. The Tombstone Factory is the first in a series of online Sims personalization tools that should allow virtually anyone with or without any skill-set to be able to customize Sims objects, and without having to download and master any complicated software programs.
